What you get
Everything on this page is in the app today.
- CSV and QFX files are parsed in our Rust backend and never leave our servers. PDF statements are read by Claude (Anthropic), which does not train on API inputs and deletes them within 30 days.
- Every file lands in a staging area first: edit dates, merchants, descriptions and amounts row by row, hide rows, then send one file or all of them.
- Duplicates are caught with SHA-256 fingerprints for CSV, FITID for QFX and file hashes for PDFs, and across formats too, so importing the same month twice stores it once.
- CSV from any bank, QFX or OFX from the download page, or the PDF statement itself. Pick the account per file; a later file for the same account dedups against what is already there.
- Categorized on arrival by 450+ default merchant rules, plus the rules Zedi learns from your corrections.
- A merchant you rename while staging can be remembered and applied to every future import, PDF statements included.

Why not just connect my bank?+
Because a file is a smaller thing to trust. A statement export contains only what you chose to download, and nothing keeps standing access to your account. Zedi never receives your bank password.
How often do I need to do this?+
As often as you want a current picture; monthly works for most people. Re-importing an overlapping range is safe: duplicates are flagged and skipped, and you can include a flagged row on purpose.
Is there a limit?+
CSV and QFX imports are unlimited and free. PDF statements use OCR: ten a month on our key, resetting on the first, or unlimited on your own Anthropic key.
